Burnaby SMB & nonprofit hosting

Burnaby’s best affordable hosting for WordPress and Drupal sites

Plenty of Burnaby businesses, schools, BCIT-area nonprofits and creative agencies still run on Drupal — and plenty more on WordPress. The good news: both run beautifully on the same managed Linux stack at $5–$35 CAD/month.

  • PHP 8.xRecent runtime, tuned for both
  • NVMeStorage on every plan
  • CDNCloudflare in front by default
  • DailyOff-site backups (30 days)

Why one stack runs both

WordPress and Drupal are both PHP/MySQL applications. The differences are in defaults: WordPress wants a quick OPcache and a page cache; Drupal wants a slightly larger PHP-FPM pool, an APCu/Redis bin cache, and patient I/O for the cron pipeline. Both fit comfortably on the same Linux managed plan once those knobs are turned.

Moving from Pantheon, Acquia, Bluehost or GoDaddy

  • Pantheon → Metro Vancouver IT: we pull the live tarball, restore on staging, switch when DNS is ready. Composer-based Drupal sites just work.
  • Acquia → Metro Vancouver IT: Cloud Hooks need to be replaced with system cron + deploy scripts; we do this as part of migration.
  • Bluehost / GoDaddy → Metro Vancouver IT: WP-CLI or All-in-One WP Migration. Most sites finish in < 4 hours.

Frequently asked questions

Can the same plan host both WordPress and Drupal?

Yes — both run on PHP/MySQL and are happy on the same managed Linux stack. We pre-tune Apache/Nginx, OPcache and PHP-FPM differently for each, but you don’t need a separate plan.

Is Drupal slower than WordPress?

Out of the box, Drupal is slightly heavier per request — but with a tuned PHP-FPM pool, OPcache, and a CDN in front, the difference disappears for almost every small-business site.

What about plugin/module updates?

WordPress core, plugins, themes and Drupal core/contrib modules can all be on a managed update cadence — we handle weekly minor updates and monthly major ones for care-plan customers.

Do you migrate from existing Bluehost / HostGator / GoDaddy / Pantheon accounts?

Yes — for free. Most migrations finish the same business day, and we keep the old host live until your domain is pointed and tested.
