Dedicated Server Hosting in Canada (2026): CAD Pricing Compared

The Canada SERP for “dedicated server Canada” is almost entirely vendor pages: OVHcloud in Beauharnois, Web Hosting Canada, CanSpace from C$99.99, Kimsufi, Leaseweb. Useful if you already know you want bare metal. Less useful if you are trying to decide whether you have actually outgrown a VPS, what a real 2026 CAD invoice looks like, and whether “managed” on the brochure means someone will patch Windows for you. That is this article.

Dedicated vs VPS, in one paragraph

A VPS carves a slice of a shared host: dedicated vCPU and RAM on paper, still a neighbour on the hypervisor. A dedicated server is the whole box — the CPU, the DIMMs, the NVMe pair. You want that when noisy neighbours show up as steal time, when a database deserves local NVMe and ECC memory nobody else can pressure, when Windows/SQL licensing is cleaner on a single tenant, or when a questionnaire asks for single-tenant hardware on Canadian soil.

If you cannot name a neighbour problem, a licensing constraint, or a compliance line, you probably still want a VPS.

We already compared self-managed VPS options in best VPS hosting in Canada. Use that article if the workload is “a server we will SSH into.” Use this one when the next step is a machine that is only yours.

Three Canadian price bands

Three dedicated server price bands in Canada: budget bare metal, business EPYC, and managed or Windows-licensed stacks.
The jump from C$120 to C$469 is not a markup on the same CPU. It is ECC RAM, NVMe RAID, a current generation chip, and a provider who will still be there when Windows needs a license key.

Budget bare metal (~C$100–$200)

Kimsufi (OVH’s bargain row in Beauharnois) and CanSpace’s entry dedicated line live here. You get a physical machine and root. You also get last-generation or smaller CPUs, and you are the systems administrator. Fine for a lab, a game server you understand, or a developer who wants Canadian iron without a business invoice. Not fine as the only copy of a production database if nobody on the team has patched a kernel at 11 p.m.

Business EPYC / Ryzen (~C$250–$450 wholesale)

OVHcloud’s current Advance-1 2026 dedicated servers in Quebec list at C$255.99/month for the EPYC 4245P, with Advance-2 at C$319.99 and Game-1 (Ryzen 7 9800X3D) at C$447.99, anti-DDoS included on many ranges. This is the band where ECC memory, NVMe, and a 1 Gbps public port stop being optional. Our own dedicated server hosting in Canada starts at $469/month CAD for an AMD EPYC 4245P (6 cores / 12 threads, 32 GB DDR5 ECC, 2×960 GB NVMe with software RAID, 1 Gbps on a 25 Gbps port). Monthly checkout adds a $208 CAD setup fee; yearly checkout waives it.

Managed and Windows (quoted on top)

WHC sells Canadian dedicated with cPanel and 24/7 “optimized by our experts” language — you are paying for administration, not just the chassis. HostPapa lists managed and unmanaged variants with fixed renewals. Windows Server 2025/2022/2019 Standard or Data Center, and SQL Server, are almost never in the headline price. We confirm OS and licensing after checkout and quote SQL separately. If the proposal does not say which edition of Windows, it is not a complete proposal.

Who actually shows up for this keyword

OVHcloud Canada — Beauharnois is one of the largest data centres on the continent, hydro-heavy, serious network, distant support. Best price-to-iron if you already operate like a sysadmin. Setup can be minutes. The relationship is a ticket queue.

Web Hosting Canada — dedicated as an extension of their shared/VPS brand: Canadian support, cPanel comfort, compliance language. Expect to pay for the managed layer. A good fit if the same team already hosts your sites there and you want one vendor.

CanSpace — managed dedicated from about C$99.99, CAD prices, 100% Canadian servers, nightly backups in the pitch. The entry price implies a smaller box than a $469 EPYC; read the cores and RAM, not the word “dedicated.”

Leaseweb, GTHost, OneProvider — more catalogue than relationship. Useful for specific SKUs (storage, GPU, Montreal colocation-adjacent). You are buying a server ID, not a BC phone number.

Reddit’s usual mentions (Globotech and similar) are operator-to-operator recommendations. Treat them as you would any forum: fine for hobby iron, verify backups yourself.

Metro Vancouver IT: the four boxes we actually sell

Again, this is us. Four dedicated tiers, Canadian location, Linux or Windows, RAID preference confirmed before we provision:

  • EPYC Performance — $469/mo — EPYC 4245P, 32 GB DDR5 ECC (up to 256 GB), 2×960 GB NVMe RAID, $208 setup on monthly / waived yearly.
  • EPYC Pro — $579/mo — EPYC 4345P 8c/16t, 64 GB DDR5 ECC, same NVMe pair, $257 setup monthly.
  • Ryzen Game Pro — $809/mo — Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 64 GB, for game and other high-clock workloads, $360 setup monthly.
  • EPYC Enterprise — $729/mo — EPYC 4464P 12c/24t, 64 GB (up to 192 GB), $324 setup monthly.

Game Pro sits above Enterprise because the Ryzen 7 9800X3D SKU costs more at the supplier (OVH Game-1 is C$447.99) than the 12-core EPYC 4464P (Advance-3 2024 is C$319.99). Public bandwidth on the base configs is a 1 Gbps allocation, not “unlimited.” Windows and SQL are optional and quoted. If you need the machine administered — patching, monitoring, the 2 a.m. call — that is a managed conversation on top of the hardware, not something we hide inside the $469.

Where we fit: Canadian businesses that want a current EPYC/Ryzen box, CAD tax-clean invoicing, and a person who will confirm RAID and licensing before the server exists. Where we do not: if you need a 20-server catalogue, hourly bare-metal APIs, or the absolute cheapest Kimsufi-class machine. OVH and Kimsufi win that race and should.

When to move off the VPS

Checklist of signals that a workload has outgrown a VPS and needs a dedicated server in Canada.
One of these is enough to start a quote. Zero of these means stay on the VPS and spend the difference on backups and monitoring.
  • CPU steal or disk wait you cannot explain after the usual MySQL and PHP tuning.
  • A database that should not share a disk controller with four other tenants.
  • Windows Server or SQL Server licensing that is cleaner on a single physical host.
  • A security questionnaire that asks for single-tenant hardware and a Canadian location.
  • Several production apps you want to consolidate without inheriting someone else’s noisy WordPress site.

If the site is still “WordPress got slow,” start with managed WordPress hosting or a VPS, not a $469 server. Dedicated does not fix an uncached plugin; it just makes the plugin expensive.

Residency, again, because this is where the data is

Dedicated boxes usually hold the crown jewels: the application database, file stores, backups of other systems. “Toronto region, US operator” keeps ping times low and does not change the legal jurisdiction of the company that can be compelled. When a procurement form asks for a Canadian provider on Canadian soil, answer with that sentence, not with a cloud region dropdown. Hydro-powered Quebec facilities (OVH, some Leaseweb sites) are a nice environmental bonus; they are not a substitute for knowing who the operator is.

Managed or not

Self-managed dedicated is the same deal as self-managed VPS, only the blast radius is larger. You patch, you firewall, you watch disk SMART, you test restores. Managed means a team does that, and it costs more every month than the hardware line. We will sell you the box without pretending we are watching it unless you ask us to. If “unattended-upgrades broke ssh” sounds like a puzzle, stay self-managed. If it sounds like a lawsuit, budget for management from day one.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a dedicated server cost in Canada?

Hobby bare metal starts near C$100/month. Business-grade EPYC or Ryzen boxes with ECC RAM and NVMe typically run C$250–$800/month before Windows or SQL licensing. Our entry dedicated server is $469/month CAD plus a $208 setup fee on monthly billing (waived if you pay yearly).

Is a dedicated server better than a VPS?

It is better when you need the whole machine. It is worse when you do not: you pay for idle cores, you own every hardware failure mode, and you still have to administer the OS. Most sites should grow from shared hosting to a VPS first.

Do I need a dedicated server in Canada for compliance?

Sometimes. PIPEDA and BC PIPA care about where personal information lives and who can be compelled to produce it. Single-tenant hardware on Canadian soil, operated by a Canadian company, is the clean answer for some questionnaires. A US cloud’s Toronto region may satisfy latency and still fail the operator test.

Can I run Windows Server and SQL Server?

Yes on our plans. Windows Server 2025, 2022, or 2019 (Standard or Data Center) is confirmed during onboarding. SQL Server is quoted separately by edition. Linux is the default if you do not need Windows.

Is bandwidth unlimited?

Not on our base configurations. You get a 25 Gbps port with a 1 Gbps public allocation. We confirm transfer limits and upgrades before provisioning. Treat any “unlimited dedicated” claim as a marketing sentence until you see the fair-use clause.

How fast is the server delivered?

After checkout we confirm OS, RAID, access, and licensing, then provision. This is not a 120-second API box; it is a machine we do not want to rebuild because the Windows edition was wrong. If you need something the same afternoon, say so on the order and we will tell you whether that is realistic.

Ready for a Canadian dedicated server with a real invoice?

Four AMD plans from $469/month — EPYC or Ryzen, DDR5 ECC, NVMe RAID, Canadian location. Order the hardware, then we confirm OS and licensing before it exists.
